Project Description

Luxury Teal Sitting Room

When we first met with the client she had recently had a new marble fireplace fitted. The colour was not what she expected and she was concerned about how cold it might make the room feel. Our brief was to design a formal sitting room for the client and her husband to use in the evening for quiet time away from the television and children. The scheme also needed to feature teal. We chose a Romo wallpaper featuring teal and warm neutrals and by using the teal paint on the walls around the fireplace, the marble felt less cold and sat comfortably with the rest of the scheme. We used a fabulous silk and wool mix from James Hare for the pinch pleat curtains, fitted on a corded Metropole with a contrast band of colour on the leading edge. Coordinating tie-backs complete the curtains and contrast piped cushions in the curtain fabric provide the finishing touch to their existing sofa. The piano stool and the fireside chairs were re-upholstered in gorgeous Mulberry velvet. Having considered changing the fireplace to something warmer, the client was thrilled with how the scheme worked with the marble so much that she hugged me!
