Project Description

Activities Room in Sussex Care Home

Our client was keen to transform a seldom used resident lounge in their Sussex care home into a multi-purpose resident space.  The room needed to be used for activities, film screenings and offer a quiet space for reading.  The neutral and duck egg palette is restful and easy to live with yet the dark finish on the furniture offers enough contrast for residents with impaired vision.  As well as being a homely design touch, the console with foot stools provides additional seating for carers and visiting relatives.  A mixture of vinyl and carpet was used in the room; carpet in the library area and vinyl in the main space for craft activities.  Both flooring surfaces are almost identical in LRV and finished with a similarly toned strip to ensure that the change on flooring does not create the illusion of a step. Furniture including the bespoke fitted bookcase and TV unit and soft furnishings by Edison & Day Ltd.
