The Coach House at Nyton House

Westergate, near Chichester in West Sussex is the location of The Coach House, a dedicated 9 bed dementia care wing of Nyton House Residential Care Home.  Designed with a domestic feel, the environment is supportive to those living with sensory and cognitive loss, allowing them to live as independently as possible.  With Fontwell Park Racecourse just a stone’s throw away, we have used an equestrian theme for ground floor.  The main communal sun lounge and dining area features the colour yellow which is perfect for rooms where social interaction is to be encouraged.  For the art we framed old race day programmes, badges and car park passes.  The Clerk of the Course was kind enough to donate some old black and white photographs which we placed in an album for residents to look through, hopefully sparking happy race day memories.  Soozi Jenner supplied the fantastic tactile art which depicted scenes from the racecourse and Bosham Harbour.

Hilary Harvey speaking about their experience with working with HomeSmiths on the interior design of Nyton House.

HomeSmiths is passionate about creating safe, inviting and homely environments

At HomeSmiths we are acutely aware of how important it is for those living in a care home to feel that sense of home. For many residents moving out of their family home and into a care environment for the first time, the change can be huge so how the home looks and crucially it makes them feel when they first come in, will make an enormous difference to how a resident settles.
