Petworth Cottage Nursing Home
This Sussex care home lounge refurbishment was for Petworth Cottage Nursing Home where they offer respite and palliative care. Our brief was to transform an underused and uninviting visitors’ lounge into a homely and peaceful space for relatives to retreat to when visiting loved ones.
Having been used as an unofficial storage area for wheelchairs and hoists it was important to build some storage into the scheme.
By reinstating the fireplace we were able to provide the room with a much needed focal point. A large corner cupboard was built in featuring a bookcase on one side blending it in to the room.
The furniture lay out features distinct areas offering a variety of seating and enough to enable more than one family to use the room yet still feel relatively private.
‘Jacqui and David Smith, ably assisted by Nichola Hayler, were an enormous pleasure to work with. Not only were they creative but most importantly of all they listened to Matron and her Team’s ideas. They worked within their budget and within the time schedule agreed. I and my fellow Trustees were enchanted and enormously pleased with the final result. Incidentally, I have worked with designers for most of my working life. I just wish that I had come across this small but extremely professional team at an earlier date! I have absolutely no hesitancy in recommending their services. A joy to work with and I would certainly use them again.’
