Project Description

Great Horkesley Manor

Care home receptions and front of house spaces really set the tone for the rest of the home.  The brief for this refurbishment project was to breathe new life into four communal areas at the front of the building.  Despite their lovely proportions, features and pretty garden views, the rooms were not being used very often.  By working with a palette which connects with the berry hues of the outside space, the home now has four spaces; a quiet lounge, sun room, tea room and bar.  Dementia friendly design principles have been applied to ensure that all areas are supportive of residents living with cognitive and or sensory decline. The bar and tea room have been designed as flexible spaces which can be used for private family functions such as a resident’s birthday or special occasions for the whole community.  On a day to day basis all rooms provide quiet spaces to enjoy.  Now as you approach the front door of the home, you are greeted with inviting and homely environments which echo the quality of care provided by the team there.
